A green roof, providing stormwater reduction.

As an ancillary project to replacement of a major skylight, the existing roof membrane was removed to the concrete deck. A new modified bitumen roof membrane was installed with approximately 9,500 square feet of a tray-type extensive green roof. Significant effort was spent to analyze the existing building structure to verify that it could support the green roof system.

Because the installation of the green roof significantly reduced the rain water discharge into the storm sewer system serving the area, the Owner was able to obtain a rebate on usage fees from the Metropolitan Sewer District.
