This project involved the complete renovation of a three-story 7,000 square foot sorority house.

Adjacent to the University of Louisville campus, extensive structural changes were made to the first floor of Sigma Kappa to provide an open plan configuration. All mechanical, electrical and life safety systems were replaced.

Sigma Kappa sorority embarked upon a complete renovation of their existing 1920’s era building. The chapter looked to the renovation effort to assist in member recruitment and to provide common study spaces as well as chapter activity areas. Historic elements and details within the building were celebrated, with special emphasis placed on the original entry hall stair and plaster detailing.

All interior finishes were replaced, bathrooms renovated, and major plumbing and mechanical systems replaced. Life safety egress was improved with the addition of an exterior stair, replacing an existing fire escape, as well as fire alarm systems.
