KNBA Has a New Managing Principal

K. Norman Berry Associates Architects, PLLC (KNBA) is proud to announce that Christopher Fuller, AIA, KYCID, has been named Managing Principal. Christopher has been an integral part of KNBA since 1992 and a Principal since 2014. For over 30 years, Christopher has engaged in architecture as a collaborative pursuit, with a prime focus on building community within the Commonwealth. Among his notable completed projects are Louisville Slugger Field, The Speed Art Museum, the UofL Belknap Academic Building, and the UK Gray Design Building. He is currently working collaboratively on the reimagination of the Belvedere, Morehead State University’s Multidisciplinary Academic Building, and the new Kentucky Humane Society’s campus.

As the Managing Principal, Fuller will be responsible for oversight of business operations and financial management of KNBA. “Having worked with KNBA for most of my career, I am honored to take the reins of this 55-year-old institution. I am so pleased with the growth of the practice and its evolution toward projects impacting the larger community; projects that provide the backdrop for life in Kentucky. In this time of technological advancement, our focus on human-centered design is as important as ever. We pride ourselves on working with clients for the long term and for our shared, sustainable future.”

Fuller received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky College of Architecture. He has served the profession as AIA Central Kentucky Chapter President and currently serves on the boards of Louisville Visual Arts (LVA), the Metro Louisville Landmarks Commission, the West Main Street Architectural Review Committee, and the Bardstown Road/Baxter Avenue Corridor Review Overlay District Committee.

Along with Carole Yocum, AIA, LEED AP, KYCID and Tim Doelling, AIA, both elevated to Principal in 2022, the leadership team will continue to serve our clients and communities with dedication, working together to create, restore, and sustain our built environment.

Fuller succeeds Bob Haffermann, AIA, LEED AP, whose significant contributions as Architect, Partner, and Managing Principal have shaped KNBA for the past 43 years. With over 20 years as a Partner, Haffermann will remain a Principal with the firm, focusing on signature projects and long-term client relationships.

“I started my career at KNBA as an intern 43 years ago, and this has been my only job. I’ve seen multiple evolutions of the firm, from a sole proprietor to a dynamic group of partners. The past four years have seen the strongest financial performance in KNBA’s history. Revenues have tripled, the breadth and depth of project types and client base have expanded, and our geographic reach extends across much of the state,” noted Haffermann. “I fully expect continued success for the firm through the combined talent and efforts of Christopher, Carole, and Tim to lead KNBA in its next iteration.”
